Here comes Week Three, Hooray

One thing (among many) that I have learned about chemo is that not only does it affect every individual differently even if it's the same cocktail (cocktail sounds better than toxic chemicals), it also affects the SAME individual differently each cycle. The first cycle I was just tired, but not that nauseous, and this cycle, I have been somewhat less tired, but definitely MUCH less (read not at all) interested in food.

My staples, oddly enough, are ice cream sandwiches, pink gatorade and thai food (zero stars).

No pasta. Those of you who know me well understand that this is very strange indeed, and that the last time I was uninterested in the venerable noodle was when I was pregnant. That really was the last time I liked ice cream too. Chemo is weirdly like going through pregnancy again (although I feel better about those occasional glasses of wine:-) --- and I hope when I make it through to the other side, I am almost as happy with the results as when we had the Luce.

Pretty worry beads courtesy of my awesome cousin Mandi -- I know you said I should put them in different places around, but I like em right in one place next to my bed -- they are more of a statement!

Have a good week, all...and tune in on Tuesday the 23rd to find out if I have the final round or not....whee, it's kind of like watching Lost.

Hang in there my pugilistic friend. Everything is sounding very positive. Week three. Wow, let's make it three weeks and done. Thinking about you often and always. Not a days goes by without someone around here bringing you up and how much we all miss you. And that goof ball laugh of yours.

Love you, miss you xoxox!

Hey!
Yes, from way back in the Elgin days its Ted McCagg.
Just wanted to know that I'm thinking about you and sending you all the best thoughts from down here in SF.

And I don't know if it's like an episode of Lost. That's a little spooky. How about a friendly two-part Happy Days?

Melissa,
I don't think we've never met (uh-oh. That sounds a little stalker like. I actually work with friends of Matt.) Anyway, I'm pretty sure I fall into the random blog reader category. But I wanted to tell you how moved and inspired I feel every time I read your posts. I can't even imagine how proud your family and friends must be of your strength, optimism and kick-ass sense of humor through all this, but I do know they are all incredibly lucky to know you.
I hope this next round is short, sweet and the very last one!

Here's a good cocktail:
1 pint your favorite ice cream
8 seconds in the microwave
1 oversized spoon
1 reserve spoon (in case you drop the other)
1 blanket
1 comfy couch
1 TV

Directions: Microwave ice cream, head to couch and eat until you hit paper.

Hugs to you,
John
