Jeezus having cancer is busy. Lots of appointments, lots of trips to the store to get all the crazy whole food concoctions that go into my daily smoothies..
Well, that plus my computer has been under visqueen because of the interior painting that's going on at our house, making it awkward to say the least.
But here's the catch up.
Radiation is finally making me a little tired. Still have hair, but really, I'm not so impressed with it anymore. Even though I am definitively not a hat and scarf person, my friend Julia rocked some great stuff out for me -- so great, in fact, that Lucie keeps stealing various hats and squirreling them away in her room.
I'm two thirds of the way done with radiation. End on the 6th. On the 5th, I am meeting with Dr. West to make "the chemo plan." Thank goodness. Let's get this feel like crap party started so we can have some results (besides just no brain tumors and hip tumors).
The steroids are still going strong and do a nice job of keeping me up...so the xanax has been pretty much shelved for the past couple of weeks...although there has definitely been need of ambien. The doctors are all assuring me it's for the best, and once we get through this to a certain point, we can deal with any addiction problems that might have occurred.
Straight from Swedish to Betty Ford...how glamorous my 40's are...
Next post is all about Persian Magic -- and how I got a box of it in the mail -- super cool!!

headcovers.com is, actually, not bad source of all-over head coverage. i have hair for probably another two weeks. actually i don't have much now so have been rocking my head gear in preparation. first chemo ok - just really tiring...and freaky.
am sending up prayers for you. and lobbying my senators...you have strength in spades.
xox bex
Thinking about you non-stop. Continue to be brave and remember that your family in Grand Coulee LOVES you very much. Give hugs and kisses to Matt & Lucie. You're all in our thoughts.
Love you!
Hey Kid,
I am loosing my hair and did not need any stinking radiation to to it.
But,the deal is this, when yours goes, the little of mine remaining goes. Solidarity forever.
If you ask I will also shave my eyebrows
Hugs,
your Dad
and I will shave Eric's eyebrows. if you ask. and if he is asleep at the time.
Denise
Love you!
I can shave Neil too. Melissa, make sure you eat. Don't let the contemptable crappy chemo creeps get the best of you (i.e. lose too much wieght.) I suggest chocolate milkshakes. You can buy malted milk powder and make chocolate malts! There's also the reefer:)
Love,
Portland Matt
Chin up Melissa, there is a lot of great Karma coming at you. Keep using that Ambien to sleep and make sure you eat to keep up your strength.
You guys are constantly in my thoughts.

Dear Melissa,
Just moved back from San Diego, and currently unemployed, so I am able to do whatever I can to help you, Matt, and Lucie.
I also just sent in my letter. I think it may have been a little too wordy but I got my point across. I forwarded the information on to several friends.
I am happy to see your sense of humor has not been affected by this challenge. I am also especially relieved to hear that you may still indulge in fine red wine. Life is indeed full of grace!
Please let me know if I can do anything to help....whether shopping, cooking meals, or taking Lucie for the afternoon. I have lots of free time.
Keep up your strength, drink plenty of dark green smoothies, and kick this thing in the ass!!!
Love,
Megan
Hey Melissa-
Just wanted to let you know I am thinking about you and keeping up with the info on the blog. Still sending you oodles of strength and good wishes. I am ready to help and/or just come hang out and talk again, let me know.
Hugs!
Kim
Here's to your last day of radiation today! Congrats!
Lunch soon? You know, one of those long ones like we did in Italy
