I know the BEST people

Really. You guys have no idea how much it is really inspiring me to know that you're all out there with so much love and conviction. Right back atcha folks.

If it weren't so late, I would write all about my adventures with my first general anesthesia experience. (short version -- it really works! you go to sleep! you really don't have any idea what happens like the tube in your throat! and I don't get sick after! it rocked!)

This is going to be a weekend for some serious sun, relaxing, taking full advantage of my xanax and some lovely red wine and pretending that nothing has irrevocably changed. Then Monday, on to face the future with my serious fricking game face on....

love you all....

Melissa,

It's been way too long. It sucks that it sometimes takes a life altering experience to put people back in touch with each other. I just got John's heads up, and I wanted you, Matt and Lucie to know you are in my thoughts and prayers. You are going to take that amazing infectious energy you have and kick the crap out of this thing! In the meanwhile, you enjoy that Xanax and wine!!!!

Thinking of you this Sat and hope you are frolicking in the sunshine. I just wish I could bibbity, bobbety, boo this right out of your life. YOU are too good for this! Much love and respect...drink a good bottle for me.

Hey Melissa, My suggestion: make it good wine. Costco here has had a fabulous Australian Shiraz (Greg Norman, Limestone Coast) for a reasonable price (less than $20). I realize there's good boutiquey Washington state vino out there to enjoy - but if you are looking for solid and a bargain... yummy!
We do love you a lot, Melissa and there's a lot of us who feel that way. The Knights and Kimms are praying for you, too. : - )

Melissa: I just got your news. I wish my prayers and positive vibes could just sweep in and wash away all your worries. You are an incredibly strong woman and I agree with all the other posts that you are gonna give this disease the smackdown! Stay strong minded and remember to live for today, cuz in the end that is all we have- as much as we like to believe in the fantasy that we are guaranteed anything more. Kris Dangla

ummm... you don't have another appointment this coming Friday, do you? Because I still have "See Batman with Melissa" on my calendar and really don't intend to change that just because of this little thing. It's a poor excuse to get out of a matinee. (Of course, Ron may make me stay to work on the Lottery pitch, but still...)

Hey Melissa. Lisa May here. Slate passed your blog along to me. The best way to put this...it is really fucked up. When I was living in Kansas City, Slate sent me a card which read "when you are going through hell, keep going." Not that Kansas City is the same as Cancer, but I am sure you are in your own kind of hell right...keep going and you'll get out of it, even if you do have a Frankenstein neck! Thinking of you daily. You are our rockstar. -Lisa May

Hi Melissa:

I've never met you personally but nonetheless have a sisterly love for you. I just walked into my office and got John's email and wanted to send you loads and loads of positive energy through this email. I've known John for many years and even though I don't see and/or speak to him often he remains a very dear friend of mine. Just wanted you to know that any friend of John's is certainly a friend of mine.
Like I said earlier, I am sending you lots of positive energy and love (can you feel it??) my little Shoni (my 7 month old son) sends hugs and lots of smooches and wanted you to know that you are going to come out like the true fighter that you are. Have a glass of wine for me -- heck, have an entire bottle, you deserve it!
much love,
Cathy, Jim and Shoni

Melissa-
Remember when we had lunch just before your Italy trip and I said I had the exact same sweater from the Gap that you were wearing? Well, I am wearing it today as a show of support for you today, Monday.
Hugs!
Kim
